As you know...

I rarely bring up too much politics here. It's not really the place for it, what with all the dog and chicken stories. But sometimes, just sometimes, something gets me chuckling so that I cannot stop.

Perhaps some of you know that the Obamas are planting a garden at the White House. Admirable you might say. But there are some folks out there who, for their own special reason, disagree. Indeed, a pesticide lobby group wrote to their people recently when they learned that the White House garden would be, gasp, organic. In their missive, they stated that the thought of an organic garden “made Janet Braun, CropLife Ambassador Coordinator and I [
Bonnie McCarvel, Executive Director of CropLife] shudder.” http://www.lavidalocavore.org/diary/1309/

She writes that not putting a pesticide on a family garden made her shudder. Wow.

I can see it now, when the White House promotes recycling, folks from the waste management sphere will decry, "The fact that nonbiodegradable plastics are not being dumped into our landfills just keeps me up at night."
