Julie and Jen Race Through Santa Cruz

Julie and Jen had a great triathlon in Santa Cruz this past weekend. Jen came out by train and Dan flew out, via LA to visit his brother. We were excited to have them out for a good long while, which was awesome. The sisters enjoyed spending lots of time with one another. Plenty of lunches, walks, talks, and the like. It was wonderful to see them together.

Dan and I got up early on race day to help support the ladies. We were ready when they left on the bike ride, sprinting out of the transition into their 26 mile bike course along the coast. We drove it the day before and it was beautiful. Dan and I got to sneak in a breakfast on the boardwalk while the girls were out biking. Very tasty. It was hard work.

The run was even more gorgeous, perched along the cliff within Santa Cruz itself. Jen finished this one alone, however; Julie's doc told her to lay off the running since she's recovering from a stress fracture. The three of us cheered Jen on as she came up to the finish line. And the best part: she smiled the whole way. Congrats to Jen for finishing her first tri!
By the way, the coffee was very strong that morning.
