I could not pass up a recent opportunity for a "full moon swim" off the backside of Alcatraz. My friend Pedro, who owns Water World Swim, arranged it and also took these photos.
Although we did not see the moon, my friend and Alcatraz buddy Mel and I did have a fantastic and bracing dip in the mostly calm bay. The hardest part of this swim was getting back on the boat as it rocked up and down about 5 feet. A swim in the bay is a surefire path to happiness.
