Best Hike Ever -- Oh and Kitchens

Doesn't make much sense, but it's a combination of things. I just got back from a fabulous hike over 9 days in the Sierra. We went in out of Bishop, CA -- the eastern incline of the mountains -- and hiked some ridiculous passes for the next week or so. Most of our time was spent between 11 and 12 thousand feet. It was made all the more difficult by the very aggressive start. Bishop is below 5k I think. Our trailhead was at 9,000+ and we spent the first night at a few hundred below 12,000. I had a headache; I cannot imagine how the youth must have felt (we ask, of course, but they rarely admit to having any problems unless you can see it with your own eyes).
Anyhow, just beautiful. The kind of hike that makes me think I could hike for months!
Ah, returned to some heavy-duty kitchen remodeling plans. Biggest job to tackle for us so far. Coincidentally, our good friend, Casey, decided to leave his job at a Green Builders company. He's jumped in to help out and we're very happy to have him. Today was our first full day working on the kitchen. Demo day is fun. We took the place apart. Down to the studs. What did we find, well, lots! Studs that will need to be preserved in odd places, floor joists that needed extra support, and termites that were not quite done munching on our floors. Cute little guys.
Well, time to get some sleep.
