Pennsylvania Obama Campaign (late Nov entry)

Many of you know that I spent some time in Penna. last month to work on the Obama campaign. No, I was not setting policy for the new administration or writing speeches for the big guy. Wouldn't that have been grand? Instead, I was working in a field office in Ambler, PA, near my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Ed's place. They graciously offered me a place to stay and helped me get around just about anywhere I needed to be. Mom also loaned me her car for a good portion of the time there (thanks again). I was able to watch the World Series with my family in Philadelphia (super exciting) and lament the difficulty in finding any food at a restaurant that I was used to.

The whole experience was very interesting. We basically built voters, from registering them, to identifying them, to encouraging them to vote, to bombarding them on the last four days leading up to Election day to get them out there and casting their ballots. In the end: a simply process, but the volunteer fervor was intense and inspiring. Seems it worked, too: PA went for Obama, including the counties around Philadelphia where I was working.
